Beargrass periodically offers opportunities for short mission trips to locations in the United States or neighboring countries that have been struck by natural disasters. Our members have worked in places damaged by Hurricane Katrina and by floods in Nashville. In 2010, several members spent a week in Haiti, working with the local non-profit group, Edge Outreach, to help provide safe drinking water to that hurricane-ravaged country. Five church members, working with Disciples Volunteering, made a three-day trip to Nashville to help rehab flood-damaged homes.
As situations arise in which we feel we can be of help to others in need, advertisements for volunteers will be posted in the monthly newsletter, or in the service bulletins. Details will be provided regarding duration of the mission, the nature of the work to be done, cost and other pertinent information, and interested persons will be invited to sign up.
