“I Miss My Hugs”
By Leigh Bond
Several of our beloved Beargrass members regularly send me emails that say, “I miss my hugs.” And I have to confess that I agree with them—I miss the hugs, handshakes, high-fives—all of the ways we greet each other and express our gratitude for each other when we gather in person. Heck, I’d even be fine with some fist-bumps, elbow exchanges or toe taps?!
But alas, COVID continues to keep that from happening. At last Monday’s Ministry Leadership Team meeting we were prepared and excited to approve a move to “Phase 2,” which would have allowed for groups of up to 25 people to gather. Then the numbers from the weekend were revealed and Kentucky hit its highest single-day total and seven-day average since the pandemic began.
Our primary guiding value is the health of the members and friends of Beargrass, so we will wait another month and reevaluate at our next MLT meeting on August 17. The building is available for gatherings of groups of 10 or less. The MLT unanimously recommended that we do not have “in-person” services until September (at the earliest). In the meantime, please continue to pray for our members and friends and staff and help us take care of each other.
