Outstanding! Photos & Wrap Up of 2025 Vacation Bible School

A Week of Faith, Fun, and Fellowship on the Road with God

What a journey! Beargrass Christian Church was filled with music, movement, and the joyful energy of kids and volunteers during Vacation Bible School 2025. This year’s theme, “Following God—Wherever We Go,” transformed our church into a vibrant road trip experience that reminded kids (and adults!) that God is with us in every moment of life’s adventure.

Our theme verse, Joshua 1:9, echoed through each day: “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Each evening, kids gathered for high-energy opening sessions featuring interactive Bible storytelling by Kim Mercker, who brought God’s Word to life with imagination, heart, and her trusty puppet assistant. Her storytelling helped frame the day’s Bible truth and inspired kids to carry those messages into everything they did.

Day 1: God is with us on the journey

We kicked things off by learning that God is with us on every road we take—whether expected or surprising. From compass crafts and worship songs to group games that required trust and teamwork, kids discovered they’re never traveling alone.

Day 2: God is with us when we’re lonely

Science exploded with learning thanks to hands-on experiments that helped children explore how God shapes and molds us, even when we feel isolated. From soft cloud dough to bottle eruptions, the lesson came to life in exciting ways!

Day 3: God is with us when we’re joyful

Snack time became sacred as kids made edible stoplights, fruit-and-cracker cars, and tree-shaped treats—all while laughing and learning with Merilatt Flowers at the helm of the kitchen. Their joy was contagious, and they were reminded that God delights in our delight.

Day 4: God is with us when we go off course

Sometimes life takes unexpected turns—and we learned that God doesn’t give up on us when we do. Recreation leaders Matt Johnson and David Snyder led meaningful games that kept kids moving while reflecting on how to get back on track. (And yes, David’s hilarious “pregnant Elizabeth” skit had everyone in stitches!)

Day 5: God is with us near and far

We wrapped up our journey celebrating God’s constant presence, no matter where life takes us. Through songs led by Julie Powers, music and movement reminded kids that worship connects us to God—and each other—across every mile.

Hands-On Faith and Creativity

Throughout the week, kids also created faith-filled crafts with Rose Smith and Deb Rakestraw—like stained-glass clings, license plates with messages of hope, and compass plates to remind them of God’s direction. Their creativity was on full display, and each project reinforced the truths they learned each day.

The Heart Behind the Scenes

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the incredible team of Navigators—our volunteer group leaders who guided kids from one station to the next, offering encouragement, enthusiasm, and care. With them were our invaluable floaters—the flexible, behind-the-scenes heroes who filled in wherever needed: resetting rooms, jumping into relay races, offering hugs, or calming nerves. Together, this church family embodied what it means to serve with love.
