There is a lot of waste when making food, from simple gardening to preparing leftovers We keep the garbage can close to the kitchen preparation site and gardening space, so just throw what’s leftover in the garbage rather than a special tub, that when full, can be brought to the compost pile.

If you have ever been to a garbage dump, all the garbage-food wastes, old clothes, plastic wrapping material, etc., are dumped and packed together tightly to save space, thus little air gets into the mix, Food wastes in a landfill are digested anaerobically making the end product methane and CO2. The EPA has estimated that landfills are the third-largest source of human generated methane emissions in the US!
However, if we compost the food wastes aerobically the end product are nutrients needed by garden crops. Composting added to dirt increases soils water retention capacity, productivity and resiliency. Home composting is quite simple and leaves you with beautiful black soil that is helpful for your garden and house plants. Join us as we help heal the earth-look into home composting or join the composting co-op.
