Join us on Sunday, June 16th at 10 AM in Chalice Hall for a special celebration of Juneteenth, the oldest known African American holiday commemorating the freedom of the last enslaved people on June 19, 1865. Although recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, many still seek to understand its full significance and why it matters to all Americans. Don’t miss this enriching opportunity to learn and celebrate a pivotal moment in American history.
All adult Sunday School classes & high school youth class are invited to join in. Hospitality Team will be providing food.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Charisse Gillett, President of Lexington Theological Seminary, will discuss the importance of Juneteenth for the Church.

Dr. Charisse Gillett is a trailblazer, becoming the first woman and first African American to lead Lexington Theological Seminary in 2011. She also serves as a Commissioner on the Kentucky African American Heritage Commission and is actively involved in addressing important issues for the church. Dr. Gillett is married to Rev. Dr. Donald K. Gillett II, the Regional Minister of the Christian Church in Kentucky, and is a proud mother of four and grandmother of one.
