Beargrass Christian Church is blessed with dedicated lay leaders who are nominated and elected by the members of the congregation each year through our annual nominating process. As we prepare for an inspiring year ahead, each of you is asked to consider how your gifts could be utilized by God through the ministries of Beargrass. In particular, please prayerfully consider those in our community who may be called as leaders in the important roles of Deacon, Elder, Mission Board Chair and Executive Board Officers. In a church with as many talented leaders as Beargrass, it is a true honor to be nominated and considered for an elected leadership role!
To nominate yourself or someone else for elected leadership,
follow these 2 steps prior to the September 13th deadline:

- Complete the nominating form here (or find printed copies here or at the Welcome Desk on Sunday – there will also be a booth in the Gathering Space during the nominating season). As part of the nomination process, you will be asked to write a brief note about how that nominee reflects our church Mission & Vision.
All positions have different responsibilities that invest in the health and growth of the church and are vital under the new leadership structure. For a list of current leaders in each of these positions, please visit beargrass.org/elected-leadership.
The positions open for nomination in this election cycle
to begin a term on January 1, 2027 are:
- Deacons (3-year term on the Deacon Council alongside continuing Deacons who are actively fulfilling the responsibilities of the role)
- Elders (3-year term on the Elder Council alongside continuing Elders who are actively fulfilling the responsibilities of the role)
- Executive Board Officers: Executive Board Chair (2-year term); Elder Chair (2-year term); two At-Large Executive Board Members (2-year term each)
In addition to the above positions being elected this year, the following Officers will continue to serve in 2027 for the second year of their 2-year term: Matthew Johnson (Mission Board Chair), Grant Conliffe (Deacon Chair), James Brown and Kevin DeCoste (At-Large Board Members).
The deadline for the congregation to submit nominations is Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Please note that the Nominating Committee process is governed by the current church By-Laws (available here) as well as the current Nominating Committee Policies and Procedures (available here). The Nominating Committee will put together a slate of candidates and present it to the Executive Board for approval. Once approved by the Executive Board, the Executive Board Chair will notify the congregation of the slate of nominees and provide voting procedures for the Congregational Meeting in December.
